UNBOXING Cloth and Paper Quarterly Aesthete Subscription Box $153
Unboxing and Reviewing the Cloth and Paper Quarterly Aesthete Subscription Box
๐ฆ First Impressions: The Packaging
The Cloth and Paper Quarterly Aesthete Subscription Box is priced at $350, but I've never seen it sold for that amount. It's always available for $149, and with tax, I paid $153. Initially, I planned to cancel my subscription, but FOMO got the best of me, and here we are.
One thing I appreciate is that the box comes inside another box. This is a step up from other subscription services, like the Erin Condren surprise box, which often arrives scuffed from delivery. The Aesthete box is simple and not UV printed, but it does try to exude a sense of luxury.
๐ The Travel Bag
Inside the box, the first item I found was a travel bag made of real leather. The brand never uses faux leather, so if you're a PETA person, this might not be for you. Personally, I prefer faux leather because it's lighter and easier to manage. The travel bag is useful for those who travel frequently, but I don't see myself using it often.
๐ The Waistband (Fanny Pack)
The next item is a fanny pack, although they call it a "waistband." Perhaps "fanny pack" doesn't sound as stylish. It's made of a nylon-ish material, which might be fancier, but I don't have much use for fanny packs. I already own one for holding my cell phone during walks, but I rarely use it.
๐น The Drinks
The box also includes some drinks labeled for sleep and immunity. However, I'm extremely sensitive to chemicals and prefer to avoid products that don't list all their ingredients. So, these are a definite no for me.
๐ The Lip Balm
Next up, we have a soothing lip balm. It's a decent addition, especially for the colder months when chapped lips are common. However, it's not something that excites me.
๐ The Nail Polish
The box includes an orangish-red nail polish. Unfortunately, this color doesn't suit my skin tone. I find that Asians often don't look great in red due to the olive-yellowish tinge in our skin. So, this is another miss for me.
๐ช The Cookies
Two packs of cookies from the Lark Company are included: coconut butter and oat chip. Upon inspecting the ingredients, I found several that I can't consume due to my dietary restrictions. My partner doesn't like coconut, so these cookies are likely going to waste.
๐งผ The Soap
There's a bar of honey soap, which smells like nothing. I'm very particular about my soaps and prefer deodorant soaps like Irish Spring. Natural soaps often don't feel as effective to me.
๐ The Eye Cream
The box contains Nuri eye cream. I usually stick to my Kiehl's avocado eye cream, which is thick and luxurious. The Nuri eye cream feels too thin for my preference and a bit sticky. I might use it as body lotion, but it doesn't impress me.
๐งด The Moisturizing Lotion
Lastly, there's a moisturizing lotion with a sanitizing feature. It smells neutral and is less sticky than the eye cream. However, I don't see myself using it regularly. The concept of a sanitizing lotion is interesting, but not particularly appealing to me.
โ๏ธ Final Thoughts
After going through all the items, I must say that the Cloth and Paper Quarterly Aesthete Subscription Box didn't meet my expectations. At $153, it's quite pricey, and none of the items felt worth the cost. While the packaging is nice and some items might appeal to others, they don't fit my needs or preferences.
I had initially planned to cancel my subscription but didn't. After this experience, I am definitely going to cancel it. If you're considering this subscription, think about your preferences and whether these items would be useful to you.
Let me know what you think! Would you have liked the items in this box?
