UNBOXING Inky Box

Unboxing the Inky Box: A Calligraphy Enthusiast's Dream ✍️

Welcome to my blog! Today, we’re diving into the delightful world of the Inky Box, a subscription service that promises a treasure trove of writing supplies for calligraphy and hand-lettering enthusiasts. As someone who loves creating beautiful digital downloads using Adobe InDesign, I was excited to explore what this box had to offer. So, let’s unwrap this package together and see if it lives up to the hype!

📦 Two Options & Pricing

The Inky Box comes in two sizes: the regular box priced at $39.95 and the Mini for $14.99. I opted for the full-size box to get a comprehensive view of what they offer each month. The shipping cost was an additional $3.99, and thankfully, there were no taxes charged. For those looking to order, make sure to place your order by the last day of the month prior to ensure it ships out in the first week of the following month. My box arrived swiftly via USPS, which was a pleasant surprise!

📦 Packaging: First Impressions

The packaging of the Inky Box is simply adorable! It features a light green design, with the words "The Inky Box" elegantly printed on one side. There are also cute illustrations of stationery items that truly embody the spirit of creativity. I loved that the box included a space for the recipient's name; however, since I paid with my boyfriend's credit card, they accidentally printed his name on the box instead of mine. No worries, though—let's see what's inside!

📦 What's Inside: Inventory Card & Advertisements

Upon opening the box, I found an inventory card that listed everything included in the package. It also had some advertisements for other businesses, which is a common practice in subscription boxes. The card provides an overview of the items, making it easy to keep track of what you’ve received. Additionally, there were instructions for using the Perfect Pearls included, which I found quite helpful.

🖊️ Ecoline Brush Pens: A Closer Look

First up in my unboxing adventure were the Ecoline Brush Pens. These pens are known for their vibrant colors and smooth application. It’s worth noting that I don’t usually use brush pens, so I was eager to test them out. I received four colors: orange, pink, dark navy blue, and green. The colors looked vibrant, and I was excited to see how they performed on paper.

🖊️ Perfect Pens: What Are They?

Next in the box were the Perfect Pens. These are unique in that they come with a perfect medium that works in conjunction with the Perfect Pearls. I had never heard of these pens before, and they piqued my curiosity. The instructions indicated that you should draw with the medium pen first, then apply the Perfect Pearl pigment over it with a dry brush. Sounds like a fun layering technique!

✨ Perfect Pearls: Shimmering Potential

The Perfect Pearls were a delightful surprise! They came in two shades: a soft green and a blush color. I was keen to see how they would look when applied to the cards included in the box. The concept of using these pearls for decorative purposes is intriguing, especially for someone who enjoys embellishing their lettering projects.

💌 Cards: A Touch of Creativity

The box also included a couple of beautiful cards. One featured a floral design, while the other had a humorous text stating, "It's spring, I'm so excited I wet my plants." I appreciated the effort to include unique cards that could be used for various occasions. However, I found the writing surface a bit challenging due to the shimmer from the Perfect Pearls, which made the text barely legible in certain lighting.

💭 Was It Worth It? Final Thoughts

Now that I’ve explored everything inside the Inky Box, the burning question remains: was it worth it? In terms of quality, I can confidently say that the pens provided were high quality, and I felt that I got my money's worth. However, I must admit that the specific colors and styles of the cards weren't entirely to my taste.

For someone just starting with hand lettering, the Inky Box could be a fantastic way to experiment with different supplies without committing to full-sized products. It’s a great way to discover what works for you and what doesn’t. However, if you’re someone who has specific preferences in colors or styles, you might find it a bit hit-or-miss.

Overall, while I probably wouldn’t order this box again for myself, I think it’s a great option for beginners looking to dive into the world of calligraphy and hand-lettering. If you’re considering trying it out, I recommend giving it a shot—you might discover some new favorites along the way!
